This is a player that lost his first team place at Newcastle to a Paul Dummett, no I have no idea either, in 2015, so quite where everyone is going with this amazing player stuff I am not quite sure.

This could actually end up being a fantastic deal for the club. And really one that without the injury to Cresswell may never have happened. Every cloud and all that......

the manager at Napoli is fantastic so i trust his judgement.
if he is fit then it sounds like a decent deal.

Assuming there's a clause for a full purchase, this seems like a terrific option.
Agree with Santon I'm a fan of players switching flanks, think it can work really well, encourages them to come inside.

Seems a good deal
Would like to see the Leeds lad Taylor come in too. I'd always prefer a left footer at LB
Let Santon battle Byram for the RB slot

Didn't Napoli officially come out and say it wasn't due to a failed medical.
With Sunderland I thought it was down to Fat Sam trying to get him to sign up to a wage cut if they got relegated but Sunderland released a statement saying the issue was between the two clubs and nothing to do with the player.

No point buying the kid from Walsall, he barely plays the one we got from Leeds

He'll be the new Joey, covering left and right back.

As long as he's fit, I'd be well pleased with this. Quick turnaround for a very highly rated player.

Re: Davide Santon

Found an article from a Geordie newspaper 3 years ago where Santon was talking about playing right back:
“I can play right-back. I prefer left-back but know I have to improve my left foot. When I play left-back I can go left to right.
“When I play right-back and try to go inside it is a little bit more difficult but I enjoy both.
“If the manager needs me to play right-back I am here to play where he wants me.”

Re: Davide Santon

My only concern is that he failed a medical only a few weeks ago when Napoli were looking to sign him.
He also had a move to Sunderland fall through at the last minute but no confirmation this was because of the medical.
So is there an issue with his fitness?
Hoepfully, there is nothing to it and he comes in and does a good job.

Think this will be a good signing. Couple of Geordies I know said he's top drawer and is good on either side.

Cheers.
Fair play to the boy. That's fucking hard to do. I played left back all my life and on the odd occasion I played right back I felt completely and utterly lost. Not a clue.
My mate mentioned this last night and said he may cover for Cresswell and then when he's back he will move and become our RB. I thought was a bit far-fetched but he obviously knows more than me.
